ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Dr. Rodrigo Barquera is a well known researcher at the Department of Archaeogenetics at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology (Leipzig, Germany). His interdisciplinary work spans several domains including human biology, immunology, genetics, and biological anthropology.

Dr. R. Barquera specializes in studying molecular markers and their applications in understanding the genetic diversity and evolutionary pathways of ancient and contemporary human populations.

A key area of Dr. R. Barquera's research involves the analysis of the Major Histocompatibility Complex (MHC), HLA typing, and other immunogenetic factors that influence disease resistance and susceptibility in human populations. His work is documented in numerous scientific publications. It provides critical insights into the migration patterns, survival strategies, and adaptation mechanisms of early humans as well as their impact on modern human populations.
