From 1 January 2025, researchers from the Faculty of Medicine at Vilnius University will launch the JADE Health (Joint Action addressing DEmentia and HEALTH) project within the framework of the EU4Health Programme to help address the challenges of dementia and other neurological disorders by developing sustainable, effective, and person-cantered health care solutions.

The JADE Health consortium consists of 39 partners (research centres, universities, policy-makers) from 17 countries: Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Norway, Poland, Slovenia, Spain and Ukraine. Project coordinator: Fundacion para la formacion e investigacion de los profesionales de la salud de extremadura fundesalud (FUNDESALUD), Spain.

Project leader Prof. Natalia Istomina maintains that dementia and other neurocognitive disorders are a serious challenge for patients, their relatives, and society at large. The JADE Health project provides an opportunity to develop research in this area and contribute to developing practical solutions that meet people’s needs. The project will also help raise awareness of preventive measures, the importance of a healthy lifestyle, and long-term solutions to reduce the burden of dementia.

The consortium partners will work together to deliver cutting-edge research, disseminate knowledge, and develop effective healthcare policies to reduce the burden of dementia on society. The project will foster closer cooperation between European countries in addressing dementia and other neurocognitive disorders. The project outcomes will help improve early diagnosis, reduce the impact of dementia, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. In addition, the project will contribute to promoting healthier lifestyles and sustainable solutions with long-term benefits for society. Representation of Lithuania is coordinated by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Lithuania.
