The construction of the Vilnius University Faculty of Medicine Science Centre, which started two years ago, is gaining pace. The majority of the construction works are near completion.
According to Antanas Čirikas, the construction manager, by 28 April 2023, such works in the Vilnius University Faculty of Medicine Science Centre were completed: the installation of plasterboard partitions, internal sewage, HVAC, the internal water supply and sewage and all fire safety networks; in the basement and ground floors of blocks A, B, C, E, L, sand, rubble and concrete layers have been installed; the aluminium facades have been installed in blocks E and A; the monolithic structural works have been successfully completed in all the blocks (99% completion).

According to Antanas Čirikas, the construction manager, by 28 April 2023, such works in the Vilnius University Faculty of Medicine Science Centre were completed: the installation of plasterboard partitions, internal sewage, HVAC, the internal water supply and sewage and all fire safety networks; in the basement and ground floors of blocks A, B, C, E, L, sand, rubble and concrete layers have been installed; the aluminium facades have been installed in blocks E and A; the monolithic structural works have been successfully completed in all the blocks (99% completion).
During this period, the internal partitioning masonry works were completed on all the floors of blocks E, L, A, and C (except for block A), and the staircases, made of prefabricated reinforced concrete, were also fully mounted (100% completion). The exterior landscaping is currently underway.

As a reminder, on 3 December 2021, the official launch of the construction of a modern VU Faculty of Medicine Science Centre will be commemorated with a symbolic capsule laying ceremony in Vilnius Santaros Valley, next to the existing Vilnius University Hospital Santaros Clinics (2 Žaliųjų Ežerų Street). The total cost of this project, which includes the construction of the building and the provision of state-of-the-art scientific equipment, amounts to 47.1 million euros, of which, 33.1 million euros will be covered by the European Regional Development Fund.
The new centre will have specialised scientific laboratories and operating theatres for the Genetic Research Centre, the physiology, biochemistry, microbiology and laboratory medicine, infectious diseases and dermato-venerology, chest diseases, immunology and allergology, dentistry, neurology and neurosurgery, cardiovascular departments and clinics plus a few more, with a total area of about 19 thousand square meters. It will also accommodate a number of medical study programmes, a simulation centre for the development of practical skills in an environment as close as possible to the real working environment, conference rooms, auditoriums, rooms for conferences, meetings and seminars, offices for researchers and postgraduate students, and rooms for practical classes.
The completion of the Vilnius University Faculty of Medicine Science Centre project is expected by the end of 2023. For the construction works UAB “Eika” (Ltd.) is responsible.
