Previous week, Dr. Wael Awad Ramadan, an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Physical Education, Mansoura University, visited the Faculty of Medicine. It marks his fourth trip to Lithuania under the Erasmus cooperation agreement, where he shares his academic experience in mobility and sports physiology with students.

Professor Vaiva Hendrixson from the Department of Physiology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, and Laboratory Medicine has been collaborating with Professor Ramadan for several years. His lectures on muscle physiology has been integrated into the Human Physiology course, thereby promoting the internationalization of the module. Professor Ramadan arrived under a collaboration agreement initiated and funded by Prof. Vaiva Hendrixson, which will facilitate teaching visits by both professors to the partner university, as well as the semester-long study of one student from Mansoura University at Vilnius University's Faculty of Medicine.

"Vilnius University is recognized as one of Europe's leading institutions, and it's an honor to engage with its academic environment, albeit briefly. Similarly, Mansoura University holds a strong reputation in Egypt and the Arab world. The collaboration between our institutions and our future plans are sources of great pride. It is my aspiration that in the future, the VU Faculty of Medicine will consider establishing a department focused on sports, exercise, and physiology. There is evident value in furthering research and undertaking additional projects in these domains," noted Dr. W. A. Ramadan, whose expertise lies in sports science and physiology, particularly in exercise and muscle physiology.

"I've come to teach students about mobility and muscle physiology, emphasizing the relationship between exercise, nutrition, sports, and genetics—a vital understanding for students," Dr. W. A. Ramadan added.

Established in 1972 in Mansoura city, Egypt, Mansoura University holds a significant place in Egyptian academia. It's one of the largest universities in Egypt, located in the Nile Delta, contributing significantly to the cultural and scientific life of the region. The Faculty of Medicine, initially a branch of Cairo University in 1962, became an independent entity named "East Delta University" in 1972, later renamed Mansoura University in 1973.
