The ceremony of the LRT Awards of the Year 2021 honored the personalities, works, initiatives and organizations that inspired the society the most during the past year. Ligita Jančorienė, Professor of Infectious Diseases at the Faculty of Medicine of Vilnius University was awarded for tireless work in the epicenter of the pandemic.

“Although many people have been affected by the pandemic infection, we have suffered many losses, the pandemic has taught us a lot: to focus, to master new technologies, to make quick and constructive decisions. The pandemic has also refined the importance of the specialty of an infectious disease specialist, an epidemiologist. If before the pandemic we mainly improved our skills in clinical practice, academic activities, the pandemic forced us to get involved in the development of a national strategy to combat the pandemic. This, of course, has given a great deal of commitment and responsibility.

On behalf of all my colleagues, I thank you for this award. The award gives me even more responsibilities and obligations as a leader, doctors and a person, because the future of the Lithuania will not be the same for me,” said L. Jančorienė.
